I am trying to take myself from plugin-jockey/implementor to someone who really groks WordPress. To that end, I’m casting about for more projects (If you’re fire science/government/law enforcement, lmk – looking for more work in those areas). And I’m trying to do a tutorial a week.
This week is Plugin Development by Rob Starr on Lynda.com. Obviously, one course is not going to teach you plugin development, but it’s great start, and he explains a lot. If you are finding that paying for Lynda.com is a stretch for your budget, remember that you can often access it through your local library!
What are you doing to keep learning?
PS: re: GET vs POST vs HEAD – you can remember the difference by thinking of a person in a restaurant.
GET is him sending his order to the kitchen for a steak
POST is him giving his payment info to pay the bill
HEAD is him telling the waiter “hey, I’m allergic to beef so don’t give me any dishes that have been in them.” Then, when he orders a steak, the kitchen will alert the server that they won’t send that out, and the request is denied.
